Natural Gas Co-op 52 Ltd

Natural Gas Co-op 52 Ltd is a member owned, member controlled, locally operated and not for profit natural gas distribution system located in East Central Alberta. Our customers consist of rural, agricultural, commercial and industrial users.

We are a proud member of the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops consisting of 81 other rural gas utilities. Together we lobby government, train employees, provide insurance for our distribution systems and set standards for the operations and maintenance of the utilities to ensure safety for our employees and our customers. Together we make up the largest rural gas distribution system of its kind in the world.

On April 1, 2023, federal taxes on greenhouse gas emissions will increase from $50 to $65 per tonne. As a result the Federal Fuel Charge on natural gas will increase from $2.62/GJ to $3.32/GJ. The fuel charge rate will increase by $15 per tonne annually to reach $170 per tonne in 2030.

Natural Gas Utilities are required to invoice the Federal Fuel Charge as per the federal Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act. All charges collected under this Act are remitted directly to Revenue Canada.

The new rate will be automatically applied to your bill for natural gas consumed beginning April 1, 2023.
